Rinnai’s History in Indonesia

Rinnai Indonesia

Our Principal

Rinnai operates on the principle of local production and local sales, providing products and services suited to local living environments and climates while actively hiring local personnel. Rinnai’s vision for global expansion is to contribute to improving the food and housing culture of local communities and to creating employment opportunities.

Rinnai’s journey in Indonesia

Rinnai began exporting and selling gas table stoves, gas water heaters, and gas rice cookers from Japan to Indonesia around 1978.

Rinnai began exporting parts to a local company around 1984 and started assembling gas table stoves locally. To contribute to the local community, Rinnai was quick to establish local production.

Rinnai established PT. Rinnai Indonesia in 1988. Engineers were dispatched from Japan to transfer technical expertise to local employees on-site. Additionally, local employees were sent to Japan to cultivate Indonesian engineers.

Rinnai aimed to become the market leader by supplying high-quality gas table stoves at affordable prices to Indonesia’s rapidly expanding market. Rinnai achieved the No. 1 market share in gas table stoves by offering affordable prices and high quality through early localization and proactive technical support.

Currently, the market has been shifting from tabletop stoves to built-in stoves.
Rinnai was an early pioneer in the development and production of built-in stoves. The company has been manufacturing built-in stoves in Indonesia since 1997, when demand for them was still virtually nonexistent in the country.

Rinnai not only assembles products in Indonesia, but is also actively engaged in in-house production of parts and research and development.

Rinnai products have been widely embraced by many Indonesian customers, enabling Rinnai Indonesia to achieve significant growth. To meet expanding demand, the company proceeded to construct a second factory in Balaradja, Tangerang, in 2012.

Today, Rinnai Indonesia has grown into an industry-leading company with its own development center, two factories, and approximately 2,000 employees. Rinnai Indonesia will continue to innovate continuously to provide Indonesian customers with reliable, safe, and high-quality products at affordable prices.

Technology

Our Group’s research and development is centered at the Development Headquarters in Japan. We also have a development base in Indonesia, where we develop products tailored to the living environment and culture of Indonesia. While many companies deploy common products developed at overseas headquarters to various countries, Rinnai remains committed to localized development. Rinnai’s products are closely tied to people’s daily lives, such as cooking and bathing, and cooking and bathing cultures differ by country. That is precisely why we place great importance on developing products suited to each country.

The Rinnai Development Headquarters is located within the Technology Center in Oguchi Town, Aichi Prefecture, and is primarily composed of Product Development, Technology Development, Electronics Development, and Design divisions.
Within the Development Headquarters facilities are the Design Building for product design, the Testing Building for product performance testing, and the Environmental Testing Building for evaluations in various installation environments, where new product development is conducted daily.
